First Project of 2012

My first project of the 2012 year will be to add some more miniatures of my fantasy Barbarian warband. I've ordered Boerogg Blackrime (Giant pictured below) from Reaper Miniatures and will be getting a few miniatures from Red Box Games. Tre (Red Box Games) has said he is going to release some more HelsVakt in the next month or two. One of his ranges that has grabbed my imagination is the Aenglish and they'll be on my list too. I'll also be adding to both my Early Visigoth and Eastern Late Roman Impetus armies with more Musketeer Miniatures. I hope we'll see some mounted Late Romans this year!

Games Workshop 3rd and 4th Edition Empire Collection

As I mentioned a while ago, I was going to complete an Empire army for Warhammer using 3rd and 4th edition Empire miniatures. I had decided against trying to build the army and was going to sell what I had on hand. It wasn't too much and didn't sell. I took it as a sign that maybe I should try to continue building the army. I picked up a pack of Empire soldiers with great weapons and some more handgunners (first two pictures). However, I still feel like I'll never complete this army so I'm going to attempt to sell the collection to fund my other gaming projects. I'm asking $100 USD for the lot, with $10 shipping to the U.S and $15 shipping worldwide.

Musketeer Miniatures Gothic Cavalry

A base of Musketeer Miniatures Gothic cavalry for Impetus. I finished them up a while ago, but couldn't upload pictures to blogger for some reason. They are going to be part of an Early Visigoth army and represent the mounted Nobles.

Quinta Macedonica

Black Tree Design armored Late Romans. They're based for an Impetus Eastern Late Roman army. These BTD figures have been among my favorites, but the new Late Romans from Musketeer Miniatures will fill out the rest of the army. I'm also working on a Gothic Army that will be composed entirely of Musketeer Miniatures. My next purchase of historical figures will be some Gothic infantry.

Red Box Games

An update including some Redbox Games miniatures that I finished a while ago. I don't have any gaming system in particular in mind for these, just been painting them for fun really. Probably need to try Ganesha Games' Song of Blade and Heroes one of these days.

First picture is an action shot of Beleghast unleashing his war band (include Kagunk from Reaper Miniatures) against Einar and Eofrweg.
Close up of Eofrweg of the Red Gate.
Beleghast's war band close up.
The recent miniatures for the war band. HelsVakt Hordesmen Pack A (which is no longer available), Conradt the Crazed, and Sverreulf the Red-Handed (a Halfblood) serving as a mercenary.

Eureka Miniatures 18mm Orc Shaman

An 18mm Orc Shaman from Eureka's fantasy range. I have some vague plans for modifying Warmaster and using 18mm miniatures.

Dark Sword Miniatures Elf

Part of a larger fantasy commission I'm working on right now, much more to come. This will be my last commission, after this I'm going to work on my own projects only.

WWI Brits

A group of WWI Brits from Brigade Games. I think they painted up very nice, just wish my photography skills were better.

Musketeer Caliphates Turkish Ghulams

Ten Turkish Ghulams from the Musketeer Miniatures Armies of the Caliphates range. Fantastic miniatures from Bill and these were a joy to paint. The customer is going to do the weapons and shields (with LBM shield transfers) himself. I wish I had some brown grass, they almost don't look right on the green grass!

Musketeer Miniatures Caliphate Infantry

These are 20 armored infantry with command from Musketeer Miniatures Armies of the Caliphates range. I must say they almost painted themselves! Fantastic miniatures and I highly recommend them. They're for commission and the customer is doing the weapons and shields with LBMS transfers.

VBCW Vehicles

I took another shot of the BUF infantry without the light box, better this time I think.

These are two BUF vehicle I recently finished. Both are from BEF Miniatures. The first is a kfz. 13 Adler Armoured car. The crew have been converted to have English heads (the orginial crew were distinctly German).

This a British Morris CS9 LAC.

VBCW BUF Infantry

These are the remaining 10 Gripping Beast WWI miniatures that I painted up as BUF troopers from the VBCW setting.

A group shot of all 2o figures. I constructed a light box out of a box and some vellum paper I've had lying around for a while to see if that will help with my photography. I'm not sure I like it. I use a Sony digital camera and use the macro setting to take the pictures, but I'm not getting the results I want. I think I'm going to stick to not using the light box, I like the above picture much better. I'll get another picture on here with all of the infantry when I've completed the two armored cars that are next.

VBCW BUF preview

These are another 10 BUF miniatures I've finished for the VBCW commission I've been working on. They are from Gripping Beast's WWI range, Serge Uniform with Brodie Helmet. They are the first miniatures from GB's Woodbine Design ranges that I have painted and they are very nice miniatures. I have 10 more to finish and two vehicles (also for BUF forces).

More VBCW

These are reinforcements for the Parish of St. Martin from the Island of Jersey in the Channel Islands. They're Spanish Immigrants and will be supporting the Anglican League in the Very British Civil War (VBCW) setting. The figures are Carlists in the Spanish Civil War range by Empress Minitures (Nationalists range) and they are some great looking miniatures.

I'm not really sure where these miniatures are from (I think they're French Resistance fighters), but they will be acting as some VBCW militia reinforcements armed with sub-machine guns and two teams with light machine guns.

Kagunk, Ogre Chieftan

This Kagunk, Ogre Chieftan (3164) from Reaper Miniatures. I've had it sitting on my desk for a while and finally finished him up. I've pretty happy with the miniature. He's mounted on a 50mm base. Why a round base? I'm looking at more skirmish rules for my fantasy gaming and I'm a fan of LotR rules to start with and I hear A Song of Blade and Heroes in another good system.

An action shot of Kagunk vs. Einar March Warden Captain from Red Box Games. As you can tell, Kagunk is a very large model!

WWI Commission Finished

I finished up the remainder of this WWI commission this weekend. Again, a mixture of Great War Miniatures and Renegade Miniatures. The heavy machine gun team is also from Great War Miniatures and the 50mm round base is from Warbases in the UK. Great service and extremely fast shipping across the Atlantic. I think I had the bases four days after I ordered them.

This is a picture of all the models grouped together.

Mixture

A bit of a mixture this time. First up are some WWI Early War British forces. They are a mix of Great War Miniatures command and Renegade Miniatures basic troopers. The Renegade are heftier and taller then the Great War figures, but I don't think they look too bad next to each other.

The next two pictures are some 20mm Newline Design figures. The client does the bases himself. I've painted a number of the infantry but never took a picture of them. Some excellent figures and when the ranges are expanded I think I will eventually use them for an Impetus army or two.
